Pitfall 1: Using single beam‑angle for mixed‑function warehouse

Many contractors apply 90° or 120° wide‑beam high‑bay lights for whole warehouse, including high‑rack aisles and sorting zones. Wide‑beam produces heavy shadow blocked by tall racks inside picking aisles; barcode and label reading become difficult. In the 12000 ㎡ project, early draft scheme used unified 120° beam, simulation showed aisle vertical illuminance only reached 78 lx, could not satisfy picking operation requirement.

In the real‑world project, after first‑time installation without fine‑tuning, on‑site measured U0 only reached 0.61, readjusting lamp aiming angle finally lifted U0 up to 0.74.

 

Pitfall 4: Choosing IP65 lamps for dusty‑humid indoor warehouse

IP65 fixture can resist water splash, yet its sealing performance cannot cope with long‑term heavy dust accumulation inside warehouse. Dust will penetrate lamp housing, contaminate light source and driver, accelerating light decay and early failure. For dusty & humid indoor logistics warehouse, IP66 full‑sealed structure is preferred.

Note: IP66 here applies to indoor sheltered environment, CANNOT be used for fully exposed outdoor installation.

 

Pitfall 5: Skipping Dialux simulation and relying on empirical spacing

Warehouse rack layout, ceiling height, ground reflectance will change actual light distribution. Experience‑based layout cannot predict shadow caused by high racks. Without simulation, you will face rework risk after installation. Even small‑size renovation project should complete 3D optical simulation before construction.

Note: Dia lux simulation provides theoretical reference only. On‑site goods stacking and real rack arrangement may deviate from simulation model, so field adjustment and illuminance test are still required after installation.

 

Pitfall 6: Not reserving dimming interface for future intelligent upgrade

Many projects have no smart lighting requirement in initial stage, so contractors select cheap non‑dimmable high‑bay lights. When warehouse prepares to build energy‑saving lighting management system later, whole‑batch lamp replacement is needed, bringing huge secondary investment. Suggestion: Prioritize fixtures with 0‑10V dimming interface regardless of immediate smart demand.

 

Pitfall 7: Missing complete acceptance documents after construction

Project hand‑over only delivers lamps without supporting documents. When local safety audit comes, you cannot provide photometric report, on‑site illuminance test record, IES file and product certificates. For European logistics projects, you need to archive on‑site illuminance test report, Dia lux simulation document, IES photometric file, CE certificate, product datasheet.
